Description
The Companion Animal Lungworm Panel combines fecal flotation and fecal Baermann testing to improve detection of lungworms and other parasitic causes of respiratory disease in dogs and cats.
Fecal flotation is used to identify gastrointestinal parasite eggs and is specifically included in this panel for the detection of Eucoleus aerophilus (syn. Capillaria aerophila) ova. WADDL generally performs the Modified Wisconsin flotation method for companion animals, allowing for quantitative parasite egg counts per gram of feces.
Fecal Baermann testing is performed to isolate and identify motile lungworm larvae present in fresh feces.
