Description
The Haemonchus contortus fluorescent assay is for the identification of Haemonchus contortus (barber pole worm) ova in fecal specimen. This test will have a fecal float performed to confirm the presence of Strongyle type ova are present. Please note, the fecal float is not included in the cost of the test. 

To proceed with the fluorescent assay a concentration of at least 25 EPG must be present in the fecal float. If enough ova are seen, the fluorescent assay will be performed. Results given quantitatively (percentage of positive ova reported).
Specimens Required
5-10 grams of fresh feces, free of feed, bedding or debris

Special Instructions
Please note, this test will include the cost of a fecal float in addition to this assay. If the quantity of Strongyle ova is less than 25 eggs per gram only the cost of a fecal float will be charged.
