Description
This test is available for the culture and identification of Mycobacterium species. Please note that this culture is not intended for the identification of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease).
Due to the slow growth rate of Mycobacterium species, cultures are incubated and monitored for up to 6 weeks. Preliminary results will be reported at 2 and 4 weeks, unless a Mycobacterium species is isolated earlier.
For optimal detection, it is recommended that both culture and PCR testing be performed.
