Description
Detection of Coxiella burnetii by real-time PCR.
Specimens Required
- Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) placental tissue suspected as being infected based on histological lesions or immunohistochemical results.
- Placenta that has not been examined histologically will require Field Necropsy Histopathology test to determine if lesions are present.

Collection Container
Formalin-fixed placenta: sealed, leak-proof plastic container. Due to the infectious nature of this bacteria, please disinfect the outside of the bag or container.
Packing Instructions
Label all samples. Store refrigerated. Ship overnight on cold packs in an insulated container.
