Description
Clostridioides difficile (previously known as Clostridium difficile) panel is for the detection of toxins A and B produced by toxigenic strains of Clostridioides difficile, the major cause of pseudomembraneous colitis and many cases of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.

The panel includes C. difficile toxin ELISA and C. difficile culture. Due to variable sensitivity of the toxin ELISA in animals culture must be performed in conjunction with culture for detection of C. difficile toxin.

In rare cases, when the ELISA is negative and the culture is positive for C. difficile, the C. difficile toxin ELISA will be performed on the bacterial isolate to confirm the absence or presence of C. difficile toxin. Please note, this may result in additional charges.
