Description
This test screens for Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV) on the E11 cell line at 25C following the American Fisheries Society-Fish Health Section Blue Book testing methodology.
Specimens Required
Sample type can be dependent on local regulations and/or fish size/age. Sample types include but are not limited to the following: kidney/spleen, viscera, pyloric caeca, gill filament, mid-sections, whole fry, ovarian fluid, and brain. Consult local regulations or the laboratory for specimen requirements. No more than five fish per pool are permitted.
Sampling Requirements
Please contact the Aquatic Health Laboratory Manager well in advance to schedule this fish health certification test. Samples for this test are generally received at the laboratory Tuesday through Thursday.
In some circumstances, a USDA-accredited veterinarian may be required to collect these samples; confirm with the regulatory authority in the receiving jurisdiction requirements for the sample collector.
Samples must arrive at WADDL within 48 hours of sampling for this test to be performed.

Collection Container
Submit tissue samples in Whirl-Pak bags; ovarian fluids should be collected in tubes with leak-resistant caps.
Packing Instructions
Place samples in a sealed plastic bag to prevent moisture entry and sample-to-sample contamination. Ship chilled in an insulated cooler with ice packs.
