Testing is performed at University of Idaho's Analytical Science Lab (ASL).
Description
Quantitation of nitrate within a specimen. 

Please note to add a $4.00 fee for drying/grinding on feed specimens.
The WADDL Toxicologist is unavailable and out of the office. Toxicology testing will be sent out to comparable AAVLD accredited laboratories temporarily.

Specimens Required
Preferred sample type:
  • Serum (1-5 mL)
  • Plasma (1-5 mL)
  • Ocular Fluid (entire intact eye)
Other acceptable samples:
  • Feed (100 g of representative sample)
Sampling Requirements
Samples should be chilled or frozen and sent with ice pack.

Collection Container
  1. Serum- acceptable tube types
    • Red Top Tube (without additives)
    • Serum Separator Tube (without additives)
    • Royal Blue Trace Element Tube (without additives)
  2. Plasma- Spun using one of the following acceptable tubes before being poured into any sterile tube for transport. 
    • Lavender Top Tube (with EDTA additive)
    • Blue Top Tube (with K2EDTA additive)
    • Green Top Tube (with heparin additive)
  3. Ocular Fluid and Feed-
    • a sterile, leak-proof container or bag 
Packing Instructions
Label sample container/tube with corresponding name identifier.
