Description
Detection of Tritrichomonas foetus in bovine samples by real-time PCR, pooled in the lab.
Specimens Required
- preputial smegma
- cervicovaginal mucus
Sampling Requirements
Method 1: Collect the sample, refrigerate the sample until shipment, and ship the samples on ice packs so that they arrive at the lab within 5 days of collection.
Method 2: Collect the samples, freeze the sample until shipment, and ship the samples on ice packs so that they arrive at the lab within 7 days of collection.

Collection Container
Inoculate samples into 2mL of Lactated Ringer’s solution (LRS) or phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), in a 15mL tube. Be sure to tighten the cap on the tube submitted. Samples inoculated in Bio-Med TF InPouch or TF transport media will continue to be accepted as well.
Packing Instructions
Label all samples. Store refrigerated or frozen (see above). Ship overnight on cold packs in an insulated container.
