Description
Detection of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) by real-time PCR.
Specimens Required
  • 1-2mL EDTA whole blood
  • 1 g Fresh, frozen, or formalin-fixed parafin-embedded (FFPE)  tissues, including:
    • Fetal tissue pool
    • Lung
    • Placenta
    • Spleen
    • Kidney
    • Liver
    • Lymph Node
    • Trachea
  • 1-2mL Transtracheal wash (TTW)
  • 1-2mL bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)
  • Nasal or pharyngeal swab (plastic/synthetic swabs preferable. Do not submit swabs in agarose media or calcium alginate swabs, since those inhibit PCR)

Collection Container
Blood: EDTA (purple top) tube.

Tissues, swabs, washes: sealed, leak-proof plastic bag or container.
Packing Instructions
Label all samples. Store refrigerated. Ship overnight on cold packs in an insulated container.
