Description
Detection of antibodies against Mycobacterium paratuberculosis (M. pt.), causative agent of Johne's disease, by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
Specimens Required
2 ml serum preferred, or 3-5 ml clotted blood.
Other acceptable bovine sample types are: 2 ml plasma or 3-5 ml whole blood, or 2 ml milk.

Collection Container
Serum: Glass or plastic tubes with no additives, e.g., red top tubes, or serum separator tubes.
Bovine plasma: Glass or plastic tubes with anticoagulant, e.g., purple (EDTA) or green (heparin) top tubes.
Bovine milk: Glass or plastic tubes without additives.

Special Instructions
Samples must arrive at WADDL by noon one business day before the scheduled test day to be included in the next day's run. Samples that miss the deadline will be held until the next scheduled test day. 
Excessively hemolyzed samples are not acceptable for testing.
