Special Instructions
Samples must arrive at WADDL by noon one business day before the scheduled test day to be included in the next day's run. Samples that miss the deadline will be held until the next scheduled test day.
Excessively hemolyzed samples are not acceptable for testing.
Submission of acute and convalescent samples is recommended for interpretation of most titered serologic tests. Paired titers must be tested at the same time to ensure results are interpreted correctly. To avoid testing acute samples twice, hold and submit the acute samples with convalescent samples. If convalescent samples are later submitted, the previously submitted acute samples will be re-run with convalescent samples, resulting in three test charges (initial acute, retest acute and convalescent). If convalescent samples will not be collected, or when disease is strongly suspect due to history, immediate testing of the acute sample may be warranted.
