Unstained positively charged/adhesive slides are acceptable specimens. Minimum of 3 slides per test requested.
The test identifies glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and intermediate filament present in astrocytes in tissue sections using a polyclonal antibody. Test results are used in conjunction with histpathology to more definitively diagnose central nervous system neoplasms of astrocyte or ependymal cell origin.
