Avian polyomavirus is a viral disease that primarily affects young birds. It is responsible for mortality of nestling psittacine, especially in mixed collections and open aviaries.
Specimens Required
Whole blood, choanal/cloaca swab, viscera.
Sampling Requirements
Use synthetic or semi-synthetic swabs (e.g., polyester, rayon, nylon) with a plastic handle (flocked or spun head).
