Description
To detect Flavobacterium psychrophilum in fish kidney samples by aerobic culture.
Specimens Required
Individual and/or pooled kidney/spleen tissues. Note: When Virology and Bacteriology testing are both requested, the Bacteriology sample will be set by laboratory personnel from a homogenate of the Virology tissue pool.
Sampling Requirements
Sample moribund fish preferentially; thereafter, select healthy fish randomly. Dead fish are not sampled (postmortem contamination). Sample brood stocks at spawning, and older fish preferentially.

Collection Container
Submit samples in Whirl-Pak bags labeled with tissue identifiers.
Packing Instructions
Place sample bags in a sealed plastic bag to prevent moisture entry and sample-to-sample contamination. Ship chilled in an insulated cooler with ice packs.
