Description
To detect and diagnose viral infection in diseased aquatic species using cell culture.
Specimens Required
Samples are collected during necropsy and vary depending on size of fish, species, and pathogen(s) of interest. Samples may include kidney/spleen, viscera, mid-section, whole fish, ovarian fluid, gill, or skin. All samples should be kept chilled during preparation, collection, and shipping.

Collection Container
Submit tissue samples in Whirl-Pak bags; ovarian fluids should be collected in tubes with leak-resistant caps.
Packing Instructions
Place samples in a sealed plastic bag to prevent moisture entry and sample-to-sample contamination. Ship chilled in an insulated cooler with ice packs.
